Five Favorite Late Night Snacks

Imagine it’s nearing the end of your wedding reception. It’s late, you and your guests have been celebrating for hours, and your feet are probably starting to feel a little weary. You're not ready to call it a night, but you and your guests could use a little boost to bring the dance floor back up to party-of-the-year status. Bring on the late night snack!

We love late night snacks for so many reasons. Guests always appreciate the extra treat and there are endless ways to bring a personal touch to the the sweet surprise. We think the key to an unforgettable late night snack is the one-two punch of a bite of food paired with a sip of beverage. Not too much, not too little, just enough for a small… well… snack. But don’t fret – it’s easier than it sounds.

Here are five of our favorite late night snacks to inspire you while you’re planning.

Milk & Cookies

This classic pairing never gets old. Any cookie will do, from oreos to chocolate chip, peanut butter or oatmeal. Set the cookie atop a shot glass full of milk and serve by tray or on a dessert table. Your guests will absolutely love the homage to the childhood snack time favorite, and to add to the fun, you can upgrade to flavored milks such as chocolate or strawberry.

Grilled Cheese & Soup
If your wedding falls during the colder months, a little teacup of tomato soup along with a piping grilled cheese may be just the ticket for a winning late night snack. Substitute tomato soup for chicken and noodles, or thick chili with a honey cornbread muffin. Extra points for decorative teacups!

Doughnuts & Cocoa

If it wasn’t already obvious that doughnuts are the darling of the dessert world right now, we’re here to tell you they are. Doughnut bars, doughnut cakes, and doughnut holes on dessert tables are all the rage right now, and we think they make an exceptionally good late night snack. Put one on the end of a skewer and perch it on the edge of a glass of hot cocoa or chocolate milk.

Sliders & Beer
If dinner was hours ago and the dance floor has been full, your guests might be feeling a little hungry again. Stave off their late night run for fast food on the way home with a mini-slider, pastrami sandwich, or a classier tea sandwich like cucumber and cheese. Bonus addition: a tiny schooner of beer is a great refreshment to go alongside sliders.

Tacos & Tequila
What says "party" more than tacos and tequila? We love the styling of this variation -- a sip of margarita in a mini Patron bottle next to miniature tacos on top of lime wheels. It's cute meets daring, and the combo would do well in larger formats, too. This is a great snack to give your guests a second wind so you can keep the celebration going well into the evening.
