Inspired Backyard Wedding

By Jamie Ihms

Erin and Vasanth knew from the start that they wanted to get married at her family's home. One of the most important elements when we were discussing style and colors was that they didn't want it to detract from the beauty already in the property. The traditional design they chose was perfect, with natural textures, navy, oranges and shades of yellow, Erin's favorite color. The ivy and wooden walls from Classic Party Rentals offered the perfect spot for photos that was cohesive with the feel of the house.

The ceremony was in the front yard, framed under the most amazing tree. Glass globes hung from the branches, along with strands of flowers in yellow and orange. Green garlands and a rose petal carpet lined the aisle. Camille, from Butterfly Petals did a fantastic job creating a floral wonderland.

They wanted to incorporate Vasanth's Indian heritage and exchanging traditional Indian floral garlands was a beautiful way to do that.

After a long planning process filled with so many decisions to make, it was special to watch these two relax and just enjoy everything they had planned together. It was the most beautiful day with perfect weather, a top-notch vendor team and the smiling faces of their most treasured friends and family. I was so grateful and so honored to be part of this gorgeous, joyful day. Dan and Erin Photocinema did a great job of capturing that joy. These shots! Be still, my heart.

Following the touching ceremony, guests headed to the back yard to enjoy a bar stocked with only the best, and the most delicious and exquisite hors d'oeuvres you've ever seen. There was even a live appetizer station with pork chops--a favorite of the bride's father's. Dennis, from Cater Phoenix went above and beyond to make this event one of the best. He personally saw to it that we had the best service, the freshest food, and everything was right on time!

The reception was a sight to behold. Trees were bedecked with hanging votives and flowers, sturdy wooden descanso tables were topped with rose gold flatware and beautiful blooms in clear glass vessels. Live action stations offered four different entrée options, which were served on clear glass china for a unique look.

This. Just this.

A special performance was done by the bride's sisters. We love a personal touch like this.

The Gold Standard came all the way out from LA to make it a night to remember. They truly performed beyond any great expectations that we had. We knew they were good, but just look at this crowd! The music was amazing, but their energy and ability to get the crowd going was something I've never seen at a wedding before.

At one point, Vasanth looked at me and said, "Isn't this awesome?! I mean, it's AWESOME!"
And it was. Nothing brings me more joy in my job than to see my clients this happy on their wedding day.

A truly exceptional team created the beauty and joy that you see here. A great big thanks to...

  1. Wow!! These backyard wedding decoration ideas are just fabulous. I really admire your work. We are also planning for a similar wedding and looking for a spacious event space in my home town which is in our budget too.
